Just had my guard duty a few days ago, it sucked .. Riot drill was stupid and I really dun see the point at all, so it did nth but disrupt my rest. Well, at least there was no stand-to ..

Time flies, it's already been 9 months. Well, I think I will just spend some time describing some interesting people I've met in my coy.

First, there's dal who is known as the fickle guy. Really nice guy although he can't make up his mind sometimes. His company mates even made a joke out of his blood type, saying he chose type AB because he couldn't decide between A and B.

Then there's genhao who is really good at singing, a bit noisy and probably the best operator around. A more hardcore fan of facebook games than me.

Finally there's yanyan(not his real name) who claims that there were no girls in his class, only monsters. Fan of L4D.

Of course, there's a lot more but I gotta book in alrdy so no time to post ..

This weekend was kind of short due to guard duty, but nvm I will look forward to the next one.

It's been so loong since I last blogged, I think I am getting lazier haha.

Managed to pass my IPT though my partner and I exceeded the time limit by a lot, well they decided that there were a lot of factors which weren't our fault and added to our time. So hahaha :P

For some reason, there wasn't IPPT last week. I want to clear it soon )=.

Something unpleasant happened between my friend and my coach last week. Well, nvr expected my coach to be this nasty .. After taking lessons from him for 6 years, I dun wish for my good impression of him to be destroyed that easily, but after that incident I am confused about how I should feel.

Anyway, nth seems to go right for tt friend of mine, kind of feel sad for him.

Had a really hectic week, with range and guard duty back to back. Well, some bird shitted on my bed this week too zzz. Got to use the I-net for the first time this week :D. Soo life's kind of good now.

I missed both my IPPT and guard duty this week, dun really know if I am really happy about it.

Surprisingly, I am looking forward to booking in, but that wont come till tues haizzz.

I finally realised why I am not receiving my gifts on farmville, apparently you have to go to the requests page and accept the gift before it goes into the gift box ^^". Took me a month to realise that, haha I am so stupid.

Might miss my competition on 6th September coze my coy is conducting range. Life sucks.

Had my usual dose of chess lesson today, my coach and I were so engrossed over a chess game that I was late for my competition at 3pm. Took a $12 cab ride to boon lay cc from tiong bahru. Well the money is all worth it since I got to play Alvin woo! He is currently the top player in Singapore hahaha, was already at a 15 minute disadvantage before the game started, not like it mattered coze I would probably have lost anyway even if I wasn't late.

In the end, he had one more soldier than me, and the position of his pieces were better, so I lost in the end hahaha. Good game anyway. By the way, he is really a gentleman too!

Anyway, zixian, jinx and leslie kept making fun of me .. since we both share the same christian name -_-.

IPPT on thursday and guard duty on saturday, quite a sucky week ahead .. Sighss..

Boon Lay CC Competition Part 1

It's been an eventful weekend. Competition first day was kind of fun, won 1 and drew 1.
First game was good, I played quite well and won. The second one was kind of screwed up, didn't play as well and was at a slight disadvantage but I persevered and ended up having the advantage LOL. It wasn't enough to win, so the game ended in a draw.

Then it was AHM on Sunday, haha was really shag at the end of it even though I only ran 10km, but I guess it was all worth it (: since we get whole of monday off :D.

Slept the whole of afternoon then played another round of competition on Sunday night. Got screwed quite badly at the start, was totally defending. Towards the end, my opponent gabraa and lost his horse so I won LOL. Talk about a twist of fate ..

Just finished packing my fieldpack for recall manning. Haizz, I dun want to get called back during my weekend.. - Prays to God tt I dun get activated -

Dying to have a drink from sweettalk now.. but too bad I am only 70 to 80% recovered.

Finally, my first national competition in 2009, haha hope my skills havent rusted too much .. Had some good practice on movesky juz now, hopefully I can play well tmr.

Rewatched my favourtite episode from hikaru no go ---- Episode 56 "The answer to his millenia". The epic match between touya koyo and fujiwarano sai displayed the excitement of fighting down to the last half moku, the determination to read deeper than your opponent. That is probably the 4th time I am watching it and I still looooove it. It never fails to remind me y I love to play chess so much.

Sick again ..

Got into OOTW (Operations other than war) company, it's quite a nice place haha though there's a lot of physical work. In the long run I may have back problems considering the heavy loads we have to carry everyday. My bunkmates are super nice, there will always bea few people who buys bubble tea for the rest during setup and they are quite patient in teaching the stuff we've got to know.

For the first time in 3 months, I finally feel like I am being treated like a human being (=

Had happy hour last thurs, the atmosphere was really nice with KTV, pool, table soccer and barbecue. Drank a can of beer that night, it was disgusting haha.. At the end of it, there was a National education quiz and each company had to send a representative and a few helpers (different qns require a different number of helpers and some qns have no helpers) and I keep getting arrowed to be the representative, if not at least a helper. Lol, I dunno wad I did to make them think that I am a super smart, know-it-all bible.

There was a bonus qn at the end of it: recite the national pledge in chinese. Lol, I became famous for saying it correctly.

I have sick yet again, tt's 4 times in 5 months, I dun believe this ... I have to miss my IPPT today, my goodness .. I always pick the wrong time to fall sick )= ..

Competition coming this weekend, hopefully I can recover by then.

Chui mode

Was pondering this morning whether to go for the chess competition at beidou, after all that's happened, I really didn't have the mood. However, I still went in the end since it wouldn't be nice to back out at the last minute. 不过结果可想而知 ... well if humans were to operate in modes then I am probably in "chui" mode now.

The 19th year of my life has certainly been a rough one, never have I gotten depressed so many times within half a year before. However, I am really thankful for everyone who was there for me, particularly the 4B-ers, CnB mates as well as 6C classmates. I wouldn't have gotten through without all of you.

Quite depressed now thinking about people who have gone overseas (be it for studies or ASLC peeps going for their taiwan training) and people who are about to go overseas. I can literally count the number of people I can meet up with during the weekends now. Well, perhaps this will make me treasure my friends who are staying put in Singapore even more.

Guess I am in perma-depression mode too hahaha ..

Well coze I always looked so sad and emo, Bernard actually created a story in which the main character resembled me ..

"Once upon a time, there was an old lady who had two sons. One of them sold sun block lotions while the other one sold umbrellas. When the weather is sunny, she will worry about her son who is selling umbrellas having no business. Haha guess I should try not to worry about so many things from now on.

It's a love-hate relationship

It's a love-hate relationship. There are two sides to my instructor, Mr Chow. Sometimes he's like an angel, telling me stories to encourage me. Sometimes he's simply a devil, trampling on my confidence and pride.

Moments before my 3rd driving test:
Nursyaheed (another trainee under my instructor): Hey aw! Good luck for your test! Must pass k?
Chow: Hmph! It will take a miracle!

When I told this to Bernard, a good friend I made during this course, his response was really interesting --- "There's a reason why there is such a word, because it exists!". I must say he's really good with words.

Final words of "encouragement" before my 3rd test:
Chow: "Hey Aw, better pass and get out of here hor, I am sick of seeing you already"

Not exactly very nice, but I know he meant well :)

Deep down, I am really grateful for his past 2 months of teachings. Now that the final test is over, guess it's time to say goodbye (after islandwide that is).

Thanks Mr Chow for your scoldings, teachings and stories.

When a teacher scolds u, he or she does so for your own good. That's what I always believed in. I endured an entire month of scolding with that thought in mind.

Yet, you made a joke out of my mistakes and humiliated me in front of other people. Is that your way of making me learn? Or do you actually find pleasure in doing so?

I am beginning to doubt that thought now. Do u really have my best interests at heart or am I just something for you to vent your frustrations on or simply derive savage pleasure in pointing out my mistakes?

I am at a loss now .. What am I supposed to believe in?

It's been a long and toturous month, finally the end is in sight, just 2 more weeks and I will be through .. or so I hope .. If I dun pass my TP test quickly, the end-of-course date will just simply extend )= .

Honestly, I think I will need at least a few attempts before I can pass my TP and thinking of that makes me sad .. I can't imagine getting through the course without people like dennis or bernard to talk to (coze once u pass, u will get off and they will probably pass easily).

Got another 2 days mc last week, seriously I am sick of falling sick.

Driving course has really screwed my life up. Now I am having my chess lessons on sunday and I can't collect my A level cert personally. May this 5.5 day work week end soon.

It's been a long while since I blogged, anyway dunno why imeem can only play 30 second samples, I thought I uploaded the whole file ...

Anyway I got into driving course and it's been 2.5 weeks since the start of the course. 4 more weeks and it will finally end.. Driving course really sucks even though learning driving may sound cool to some people.

Benefits:
Easier to get driving license after I ORD.

Disadvantages:
Get scolded everyday
Late bookout on saturday
Super fast learning pace and damn stressful lifestyle
Unchanging lesson structure (100min driving, 100min parking, 200min theory EVERYDAY)
Unpleasant company (loads of tatooed people, smokers as well as people with poor education background)

Well, at least there are nice people in my group like dennis and hong ming (my fellow SI mates :) ), it's people like them that makes the experience at least tolerable.

Just how long more can I endure before I break?

Actually my course ended last week, but I am only posting now coze I fell sick again -_-. Only just recovered from my illness and I missed one whole week again T_T. This must be some kind of record, having already taken 2 weeks of mc in 2 months. I would have ooc-ed (ooc = out of course) if I were in command sch.

Anyway, I have revamped my entire playlist. Haha, decided to go retro and now it contains old anime songs, especially slamdunk (=.

HC CUP!!

Today was the last day of HC cup, went to watch the competition and our juniors did really well. For C Chess, HC team A got CHAMP :D while HC team B got 3rd. My juniors are really good and they have something that my batch didnt have and that's strategy.

In terms of gameplay, the 4 of us (zixian, leslie, jinx and me) won't lose to our juniors but I must say that our juniors have strategy when it comes to team competitions and that's why they deserve the championship. Just like soccer leagues, it isn't always the strongest team that gets the championship.

On the first day of the competition, the star player of AJC team A(our greatest rival) had a fever and couldn't make it for the competition, they didn't do very well in the first round and they drew with some not so strong school. In the third round, HC team A met HC team B and they decided to draw instead of throwing HC team A up. By sacrificing that 0.5 match point, HC team A was able to meet AJC team A(who subsequently won round 2 and 3 so they had the same match points as HC team A and B) and fight them with their star player down and of course they won. With that, they took down their greatest rival.

What about the 4 of us? We were undoubtedly the strongest team but we failed to get the championship for HC cup and Raffles Cup last year. We failed to get champ for HC cup because we underperformed against NJC and AJC. For Raffles Cup, we performed well, taking down both AJC and NJC. In the last crucial round, we got drawn by RJC becoze we fought them with one board down (I couldn't make it for the competition coze of H3 exam) while AJC won. We got caught up on the points and we lost on opponent's score (dui shou fen).

Our greatest mistake was that we bashed through both competitions with just 4 men, no reserves. We didn't put a reserve for R cup even though we knew we had to fight one board down on the last day of R cup long before the competition started. We were too good, we wanted it to be purely a 4 man effort and that cost us the championships for both HC and R cup. For HC cup, AJC and NJC had reserves so they could rotate players to keep themselves fresh but we didn't have that. For R cup, we were so good we didn't mind fighting RJC with one board down and we got drawn.

It takes more than just skill to win the team competition. We were too confident of ourselves, we had the skills and we thought that would be enough. Big mistake.

Fortunately, our juniors aren't like us and I have utmost confidence they will clinch R cup this year.

A bad start

VP test quite screwed but happy enough tt I didn't fail ..

Haha some might wonder what on earth am I doing here, blogging on a wed night, when I am supposed to be in camp :S. This is like the 2nd worst bout of illness I have ever got (worst was during pri sch, had fever of 40 degrees celsius).

Nvr had an illness that lasted this long before. Went to see GP on sunday, temp was 38 degrees after taking panadol some time before. Got mc for sunday and monday, booked in on monday night, took medication and slept, when I woke up, temp was 38.9 degrees celsius. Went to see MO, got another day's mc, booked out that morning, went home to rest then booked in at night. Same thing, ate my medication and slept, this morning temperature was 38.5, after which it rose to 38.7. Went to see MO again, got another day's mc and went hospital to do A&E. No signs of dengue, but can never be too sure since it was only the 4th day of fever and I have to go to polyclinic on sat to do a follow-up.

Speaking of MO, well the MO at my camp is quite mean, or some might say f***ed up. PS Marcus was right, thinking about why he is like that has made me realise a lot of things. In the unit, there's a lot of NSFs who are not totally not motivated in what they are doing and spend their time thinking of how to fake injuries/illnesses to get out of course. The MO probably attends to this kind of people everyday. Surely, he did not seek to become a doc just so he can help people to chao-keng, ooc or treat patients who are not really patients.

Well it's still not right to assume everyone's like that and I was really offended by some of the questions he asked.

"Did you PURPOSELY(strong emphasis) not take your medication just so your temperature remains high?" I was really angry, but I didn't retort.

Here's how he ended off, "I will give you one day MC for you to go and do your A&E, for your A&E ONLY. If you go anywhere else, I will charge you with AWOL" I have nth to say...

Well I just want to say that if he continues to assume the worst in people, then he might lose sight of why he became a doctor in the first place.

Depressed

Just booked out today and went to check my coach's results. As much as I dun want to admit it, those people on huasing were right after all.. in fact his final ranking was much worse than what they predicted ==> 23rd out of 24 people ..

Seems like my wish for at least one thing to turn out right didn't come true. Dun think I ever felt this depressed in my life before .. That was probably the last major competition he will ever participate and yet it has to turn out this way.

Shall resume my lessons with him asap .. Will work towards fulfilling his hopes of me becoming national champion, though there's still a long long way to go.

Hope April will be a better month ..

This post is dedicated to my coach, Tay Siang Hock.

My coach is now in vietnam competing against various representatives from other countries.

In view of all the things that went wrong this month, please let one thing be right for once .. I really really hope my coach does well and prove those bastards at huasing wrong (They weren't very kind in talking about his projected ranking).

Things aren't really going smooth for him at the moment, but it's just the beginning.

But no matter what happens, I still think that you are the best and you are someone who taught me more than just chess.

A lot has happened ever since my last post ..

Frankly speaking, this is probably the worst birthday I have ever had. The week following my birthday was terrible, everything seemed to go wrong. Firstly, SBJ screwed me up for IPPT but no matter, it was not really tt huge a blow. Secondly, it was the release of the A lvl results. My results were well, well below my expectations and I was quite devastated.

That's probably one bad thing about being a high flyer, coze it hurts so much when your plane crashes.

Well, I suppose experiences like these make u stronger and it's time to move on. Btw, many thanks to the people who showed me concern that week.

Just POP-ed last wednesday. The 24km route march was really shag, partly because of my own stupidity haha. I forgot to bring my extra boots home so my field pack was heavier than most of the people. Was on the verge of tears while doing the parade, the sense of happiness/fulfilment was simply overwhelming.

These 9 weeks of BMT went by rather quickly, yet I will never forget the experiences as well as the people I have met. My PS told the platoon during the debrief session that it was his firm belief that everyone takes back something good with them at the end of their army life.

"At the end of army life, I believe that everyone takes back something good with them. Even if your commanders are fucked up, there is still something good you can take from them. Because instead of bitching about them, think about why are they like that in the first place."

Those were the words of my PS during the debrief, it was quite inspiring. Among all my commanders, I have the greatest respect for my PS, even more than my PC and OC. I appreciate how tough it is being a PS, being the "bad" guy and having to make yourself unpopular. If I am not wrong, PS gets extra duties if his recruits make mistakes.

If there is something good I am taking with me from BMT. I would say it is all the different people I have met. While I am acting as though it was the end of the world because I didn't get my straight As, there are people who are happy to get a few As and even people who will be happy to just get into a uni. In addition, I have seen for myself people who chao keng, people who chiong swa and people who wayang.

Well it's not only the recruits. A platoon commander of Quebec was sharing his experiences in OCS and he told us this "It is only when things get tough will u be able to see who is your true friend." It was based on a 9-day field camp in OCS and they were only given 2 days of rations, he claimed that he actually gave up some of his rations to another officer cadet who ran out of food, After the field camp, tt officer cadet actually went around showing off that he ran out of food becoze he gave up some of his to others.

You can imagine how pissed the platoon commander of Quebec was. One important lesson learnt is that things are not always what they seem to be. Well it does seem really cool to be an officer, only a few actually deserves the rank.

I will miss my commanders, platoon mates and section mates. Most importantly, I will miss Quebec (best company!!).

Army life

It's been a long long long time since I have been here.

A lot of things happened since my first book-in. Dunno where to begin, perhaps the saddest thing that happened was that I had to spend valentines' day doing sit test with gryphon company when the rest of my company booked out T_T . Long story, shall not brag about it.

The past month has been really eventful. Field camp, sit test and live range. Field camp was the most horrible one --- Super shag + loads of punishments. Fell sick after I booked out :( and ever since then I am not 100% recovered. Got marksman for live range :), though it isn't really impressive since half the company got it.

Sprained my ankle during SOC, seeing a sensei tmr, hopefully it doesnt die on me during next week's route march.

It's been raining these few days, was halfway through IPPT yesterday when it rained. #$%^&%$#@#$%^ and it was cancelled, so I did the stations for nothing, ZZZ.

First Bookout

Watched twilight today, it was more amusing than romantic. Haha, edward rocks. The Cullens are damn cool, they had a baseball match and it was damn imba. There is an imbalance of good and bad guys though, there are like 2 bad guys and 7 Cullens (the good vampires)-_-.

Also watched pride of glory not too long ago, quite a nice show though some parts are rather boring.

Overspent these few days, although I spend more $$ on food than on movies :S. Got scammed today :( , ordered ya fan which was supposed to be $3.80 then the vendor asked me if I wanted to change to ya tui, I agreed. Changing to ya tui would normally cost about $1 more but in the end I was charged $6.00. @#$%^&*()@#$%^&*(). The vendor is damn cunning, no wonder the first question he asked me was whether I wanted to change to ya tui -_-.

I tarnished my school's reputation

Today is one of the most unlucky days of my life. My friend asked me to go for some "seminar" on bei da (top uni in China). He told me to meet at 945. I thought it was 945 at jurong east, but it turned out to be 945 at serangoon -_- . Had to cab to NYJC since my friend told me not to be late since we were representing the school. Taxi fare: $12.20 :(

Well, a necessary price to pay I must say, just to protect my sch's reputation. In the end, when I reached there, another person from HC who was supposed to come just woke up!! So much for my $12.20. Shan't mention names here since it wont be nice to these people.

Trouble did not juz end here. Received one of the worst shocks of my life when I reached NYJC. My friend gave me the wrong info, it's not a seminar!!! To be exact, it's a "ji zhe jiao liu hui". An interviewer from zao bao was supposed to come and carry out one-to-one interviews on everyone !!! And as if this was not enough, there was a photographer from the zao bao too.

QING TIAN PI LI. This is certainly more than what I asked for.

Felt really really out of place coze the students who went there were LEP students (actually it was mostly the LEP students who were notified of this jiao liu hui, but my LEP friend sort of juz pulled me along since there weren't enough people)

Well, the NYJC teacher was quite nice and said I can back out from the interview if I felt uncomfortable and I did. Everyone was okay with it except that interviewer from zao bao. Great, I ended up ruining the school's reputation. Despite forking out $12.20 just to make sure I was on time.

I feel damn stupid now ...

Long time no post

Haha long time no post ... feels rather guilty.

Totally enjoying myself as much as I can before I enlist. Have been going out almost everyday.

Let's see ... Had class chalet from 8th to 10th December. Haha watched like 5 movies. Saw II was really nice :D. Played in-between and I won $6 at one point of time, then I took chen feng's seat and lost almost everything back. In the end only earned 50 cents which I gave to gen who lost 50 cents, so we both broke even hahaaa. Was still recovering during the barbecue, haiz didnt eat a single chicken wing, what a pity ... Didn't play saboteur at the chalet too )= , haha that's the price for watching too many movies.

Had CnB chalet from 14th to 15th December. Watched "Superman returns" on the first night, though I only watched the first part, couldn't be bothered with the second part. Played loads of card games (duh!) and "gai qi". Everyone loved "seven", but it came to a point where the game ended in 3 turns becoze by the 3rd turn, 3 other sevens plus diamond 8 (we started off with diamond 7) were closed. Everyone became a stupid spoiler and it was not long before we stopped playing the game.

Well on top of the chalets, had many mini outings like K-box, movie and de coders :D . Bang! is really really nice and out of the 6 times I played, the sheriff and vice sheriff were the ones who always won and the outlaws were the first to die. Hahaha.

Had a day's dose of chess today. Played a very nice match on the net today, a nice addition to my coach's resources on "ji jing zhong bing". Went to Chinatown to play some guy from Mongolia. Coach said he was the best guy there and I played 2 matches with him. Results: 1 win 1 draw. We played money so I won 2 bucks lol. Well, my moves were still far from perfect and got niaoed pretty badly by laoyao at the end of it )= .

Boku wa mada mada dane desu (I still have lots more to work on)

Shall go shopping for christmas stuff tmr. Haha I am writing Christmas cards for the first time in my life. Also need to buy something for gift exchange on Monday. LOL, to be honest, this is my first time celebrating Christmas :S

Regaining my form

Had competition again on Sunday, fortunately I played better this time and managed to win my opponent. It was quite a nice match. Reached a point where I could sacrificed my car and get back the opponent's car and win. But I didn't see it, though I sacrificed my car in the same manner a few steps and won. Laoyao was complaining like mad ...

Anyway, I provided another teaching material for him, and he called it "qi ju qian hou" (Roars laptop cannot type chinese).

Minghao saw that match which was posted online and made fun of me ... He claimed he fell asleep when he was reading that match -.- and that I was suffering from an overdose of A levels ... Haiz this is what u get for playing badly, though I knew something like this would happen.

Watched 2 movies last friday. City of ember and quarantine. Both are nice movies though quarantine isn't really my type of movie.

Had a really bad Sunday. Had competition on Sunday and it was held at Pasir Ris. Competition started at 12 and I reached the interchange at 1150. I asked my captain what bus to take to the cc, he told me 358. Upon reaching the interchange, I realised there was a west loop 358 and a east loop 358 -_-, messaged my captain again and before he replied, the east loop one came.

AA: "Does this bus go to Pasir Ris East cc?"
Driver: "I am not sure leh, I think u better take the other bus"

So I got off the bus and waited 10 mins for the west loop 358, which turned out to be the wrong bus. Had to get off and take a taxi instead and the ride was $6.

Played badly in the first round, opening was screwed and got a huge disadvantage. Managed to fight back a bit only to self destruct myself at the 68th step. It was quite embarrassing ...

Second round opponent wasn't very strong so I won rather easily.

Felt quite disappointed with myself, laoyao is going to be so angry if he sees that match :( . To make matters worse, my match was posted online and that match had the most number of people reading it. That guy I fought, he is probably quite famous, that's why the match got posted online. I am even surprised that I lasted 68 steps, given the way I played, not that I am complimenting myself ...

Got cheered up slightly on Sunday night when I saw Justino playing dota using goblin techies. He was really funny and quite pro too, he got an invisible rune, sneaked up behind 2 heroes who were engaging another hero and BOOM. Double kill plus first blood plus creep gold. That must have been 700 gold, haha.

I removed the post on Nov 7 out of respect just because I thought after all you were still my mother, and there was still that bit of respect I should show you. After what has happened today, that's it. I dun feel guilty posting any more bad stuff about you, that is just how bad you are.

Here is what happened, my friend wanted to come to my house today to study. She agreed but reluctantly, somehow that reluctance grew and in an instant it blew. First, she told me to tell my friend not to bring his shoes in, weird request but I agreed anyway. Next thing she said, she wanted to come back home JUST TO CHECK WHETHER WE BROUGHT THE SHOES IN. Fine, this is how much trust you have in me, what more for a matter so trivial. I said "Fine, whatever, do whatever you want, I dun care".

Next, she just started kaopeing about letting my friend come. One of the reasons why she didnt like it? It's because I let my friend come on a WEEKDAY, when she is not at home, rather than the WEEKEND, when she is at home. What difference did it make, it's mentioned above, just so she could be at home to make sure that the shoes are not brought in. JUST WHAT THE HELL IS HER PROBLEM???? If it is for reasons like because there is an A level paper tmr, I can accept. But for STUPID reasons like that, I CAN'T. TOO BAD.

When she started realising that I still insist on wanting my friend to come, threats started to come in. "Your sister's friends, I also dun let them come" the most SICKENING thing is, she seems so damn proud of it. To add on to that, she said she will come back and scold my friend if he still really wants to come. I GIVE UP, then I told my friend not to come. HAPPY?? OF COURSE YOU ARE!! KNOWING HER, DEEP DOWN SHE WILL BE THINKING: YES I WIN, I HAD MY WAY! I AM RIGHT AFTER ALL.

As though that is not enough, she has to piss my father off too when he came back from work today (mind you he came back early today). Next she started questioning why my dad came home late last night(10pm), even though it was an off day for him. My dad's reason was because he watched an EVENING movie with his friends. Then she went off saying "It's your off day, come home so late for what? Can watch afternoon movie y watch evening movie?" OH MY F***ING GOD DUN PICK A FIGHT FOR LAME AND STUPID REASONS. IT IS UP TO HIM TO DECIDE WHAT HE WANTS TO DO ON HIS OFF DAY!

My father was so pissed off, he left the house and went to take a walk downstairs. He has not come back yet.

Perhaps I should tell you why she objects to the family returning home late, it is not even a reason. If we return home late, she will have to wash the clothes late and end up sleeping late. Her usual arguments to support her point include "I return home early so you should too" and "It is hard for me to wash clothes late at night so return home early". FOR GOODNESS SAKE, WE HAVE A WASHING MACHINE AND NOBODY DEMANDS YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO FINISH THE LAUNDRY THE SAME NIGHT.

IT IS YOUR OWN PROBLEM IF YOU WANT TO WASH THE CLOTHES YOURSELF AND BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP, DUN GO STOPPING PEOPLE FROM RETURNING HOME LATE BECAUSE OF THAT! SHE EVEN HAS A SCREWED UP SENSE OF WHAT IS AND IS NOT LATE. TO HER, 10PM = LATE.

My dad is stressed from work and she CANNOT EVEN BE THE LEAST BIT UNDERSTANDING. Her laundry and her own stinking pride meant more than his feelings.

Once, I have decided that NO MATTER HOW REVOLTING, UNREASONABLE, CHILDISH, SELFISH, STUPID, RACIST, VULGAR, AUTHORITARIAN, INSENSITIVE she is, she is still my mother and I have to live with it. Seriously, I am already reaching my limit, same for the other family members. It's just a matter of time before she drives everyone crazy.

Perhaps some of you out there might say that she might have her own reasons for acting this way. Scientifically, it may be a phenomenon known as menopause. Handover session yesterday, forgot to bring my clayden book and had to rush home to get it >< . Mr Lee was like still niaoing me, "Jian Ting still reminded you yesterday leh, how can u still forget?!?!" Haha, I am damn absent-minded ...

The handover session was LOL. The juniors were made to do a song and dance session, "Having made it to the team, I believe that u all are so happy that u cannot express it in words, so u all can express ur happiness by doing a song and dance for us" LMAO ... They couldn't think of a song on the spot, so we already prepared one for them --- Pokemon Theme Song. The oldest one which goes " I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was ..." It was damn hilarious.

For the second item, they were required to act out an element or a compound. As an example, we showed them hydrogen, dun have a photo of prof yu and yifeng, so I shall illustrate using paint:

I must be crazy, blogging at 12 midnight. Got back every paper already, results are not bad though percentile and ranking dropped for every subject except chem and gp(surprisingly). 1 month left to As )= , well the sooner it's over the better.

Practice AQ got 2 marks, zzz haizzz. Damn worried for GP, feels like I am so far from the required standard T.T. Rawrs ... Econs is quite worrying as well.

Basically just preparing for revision lectures now, wonder if there's enough time for revision of content... Had an overdose of chemistry juz now, 8 structured qns zzz, too lazy to even draw graph for kinetics haha.

Went De Coders cafe on thursday, played loads of games --- No merci, some beaver game, saboteur and some game related to troy, haha these games pawn the conventional board games like monopoly and risk upside down, inside out. Went to watch movie with class after that, a wrong choice indeed, watched mirrors and after that I didn't dare look into mirrors >< . My class has a weird taste for movies, thought the boys over flowers was bad enough ...

GP was a disaster, in danger of getting U, sianzzzz I still have loads more to work on (quote from Prince of Tennis).

Went to huey kia's house to celebrate the september peoples' birthdays, zzz it's so faaaaaaaaaaar away from my house ) = . Ate loads of food, including an ice cream cake, gg probably need to see a doc tmr. Left earlier than the rest of the guys and I think I reached home the latest, zzzz. Forced to tell the Heisenburg joke which my friend told me to the girls >< , oh well I didnt come up with it anyway.

Prelims over :D :D. Went to watch movie(hua yang nan zi) with class today, though the movie was er ... haha nvm. There were only 10 males in the audience, 7 of which came from our class. The movie had some funny parts, but overall the plot was rather lame and stupid.

There was a supposed agreement among the guys to wear loong sleeves today, here was an sms from doug:

In the end only jieyu and I wore long sleeves -.- . I was too naive to believe them ..

Went to play LAN after the movie, haha got luna and it was the first time I owned. Though my usage of the hero was soso only, haha luna rocks. Went up to wicked sick only thanks to clement ><.

It was a looong week, 1.5 papers to go (= . I like fridays, fridays are always slacking days for me. Had phy paper 2 today, it was okay haha much better than paper 3 anyway. Chem paper 3 was nerfed compared to last year, maybe the killer questions are in paper 2. Econs a bit screwed, haha nvm ..

My com's monitor is spoilt )= ... 1/3 of my screen is blurry ><. ZZZ, dun even feel like playing on my com even though it's friday. Roars, the earphones for my ipod are falling apart too, shall get a new pair tmr.

Had a disaster while eating steak today ... I tried to eat the tendon (like I always do) but today's one proved to be different and it got stuck in between my teeth -.- . 12 days to GP paper, haizzz, my GP is still as shit as always, muz start mugging GP soon .. Was called to give my answer for a compre question but I didn't answer it in the " Just as ..." format so tried to create a new answer on the spot and it was horrendous, haha.

Went for my last session of CIP today, dunno if I should be happy or sad, well at least now my thursday afternoons will be free .. I must say they are quite an enthusiastic bunch, hope they can get some results in the next competition and be recognised as an official CCA in their school.

Pace of mugging has been quite okay I guess, haha finished organic chem in 1 day 1 night and the test today was quite manageable, so tt's like 7 topics down for chem! Quantum test tmr >.<, Quantum is probably the most holy shit topic after mechanics (which I am weak at). Hopefully there's no penalty this time haha.

Been getting niaoed pretty badly these days, well guess I just have to endure it for another 4 days.

Finally started studying at a slow but steady pace .. No more chess lessons for me till end of As, I am finally a full time mugger, haha.

Had a chem class quiz on friday, got pawned haha, basically got every chemical bonding question wrong coze I forgot most of the stuff on chem bonding ... It was sort of a wake up call for me and then I did 15 structured questions on chem bonding yesterday, hopefully that will do.

Spent the whole weekend at home (sian..), covered chem bonding, nuclear and inequalities, not too bad a start (= . The real thing has yet to come though ..

Went out to LAN with the class guys on Friday, AR-ed prophet for both games zzz. First game was not bad, we pushed we pwned and we won. Lost the 2nd game though and it was my fault coze I let Clement's BM farm too much in early game ..

Went to expo for some inter-racial inter-religious dinner after that, starring SR Nathan :D. During the introductory speech, the emcee said that for today, all 10 religions will be eating the SAME food. Wow! We didn't realise what implications that had until we saw the napkin on the table which says "Vegetarian Pte Ltd" -.- ZZZ, so we had a 8 course vegetarian dinner, haha but the food was generally okay.

Today's officially 27th July and there's less than a month to PRELIMS, and I havent started revision, need to rush through all the new tuts before I can really start revising. No more chess lessons for me till end of 'A's.

Went to Pasir Ris for some friendly competition today, two hours travelling time lol ...

Played 熊国伟, number 5 in 全国赛 this yr, coach told me he nvr lost a single game during 全国赛, lol ... The results were expected, made a not so good move then I just got attacked until I died ... Well, it's probably okay to lose, given the strength of my opponent, but still no one likes to lose ...

Coach told me it's good to lose, coze it just goes to show that I am still not there yet. Coach then told me about a story about a person who just became the world champ, that person was so happy about it he threw a party celebrating his success. Everyone congratulated him but only his wife said to him " I feel sad for you". Reaching the peak of your talents is not a good thing at all, coze you will just probably feel that you are better than everyone else and there's no motivation to strive for something even higher ..

Quite an inspiring story. I promise that one day, my time will come ..

Well, as much as I want to strive for that goal, I will have no choice but to stop playing chess by the end of July, -roars-, I hate being tied down by academics.

3) Not having a mum that is the LEAST bit reasonable

Why do u always have to use emotional blackmail when you realise you cannot win the argument, or do you actually think that u have won the argument by doing that? OH PUUURRRLEASE!!!! Why are you so childish? Why are u so selfish that you always want things YOUR way? Why is everything about YOU, YOU AND ONLY YOU?

All I can say is, " GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!"

Felt really bad shouting at her yesterday, though she was actually quarreling with my dad at first and not me. Cried myself to sleep last night, from the sheer disappointment of having such a mum. To be honest, I am happier when I am out of my home.

Haven't blogged in a while ... received back maths, econs and chem papers up to now. Generally quite satisfactory (=, but I really need to cut down on careless mistakes ...

First ever A for econs, quite a tyco one too since it was just nice A ... shall work more on it. There will be more topics in prelims so yeah it will be even harder.

Chemistry was generally quite well done, much better than BT1 which killed a lot of people...

Got back phy mcq too. 36/40, haha quite good for me alrdy, hopefully can say the same for papers 2 and 3 (though I doubt so). I think I am gonna get niaoed again coze I drew negative power one of the graph questions -.- . Played some lame games during physics tutorial today and the girls basically owned us (probably becoze we were outnumbered). Made to eat wasabi as part of punishment )= .

Weiyang is going to teach us next lesson LOL! Ms Li said our class needs to work on our presentation skills and suddenly I just got zhammed ("Dun be like Alvin, who come up to the board, write everything then explain like that ..." -.-) although I dun rmb doing that. Haha but I admit that my ppt skills are not very good.

Going chess lesson again tmr, have been really out of touch ... I think I will stop going by the end of this month.

Went to Xinmin secondary yesterday as part of the club CIP activity (though I have retired). The CIP activity was basically to help and train secondary school students who are passionate about the game but do not have an official club or coach in their school. The rest were busy so only I went yesterday. I haven't played in quite a while and even though there is sort of an age gap, still managed to interact with them pretty well and played quite a few games. Though still soft they have a lot of potential, kinda reminds me of myself where I was in high school haha.

Singapore Poly chess competition starts tmr and they are sending a team, should be a good experience for them. Too bad I can't say the same for myself, I guess from the moment I decided that R cup will the be the last student chess competition for me, student competitions no longer hold any meaning for me. Of course, I will not stop playing the game.

Haha, first week of blocks over!! Just 1.33 more papers!!

Hmm, GP is probably the worst subject up till now, haha kinda expected considering the amount of effort I put in for GP (oops ...) . Econs was okay I guess, Mdm Yeoh told us today that someone in our class scored 23/25 for the first question!! OMG, beyond godlike!! Chem paper 3 was rather straight forward so I guess everyone would do well. Physics paper 3 was okay though I couldn't finish and the Maths paper today ... oh well couldn't do one part for the complex nos question and made 2 careless mistakes -.- plus the paper was quite tough ... nvm it's over (=

On the verge of falling sick again, been spamming liangteh for the past few days, cough is still the same as ever ... zzz, muz get well soon ...

End of June hols, hahaha, it didn't even feel like a holiday ... juz managed to finish studying econs, but really no confidence for econs, since it's essay writing. Didn't touch GP at all, haha probably gonna fail the essay tmr again.

Cannot imagine 4/5 more months like this ... Haizz, J2 life sucks.

Just got wind of the results of the national individual competition (for c chess) from kevin. Alvin Woo champs the A division category while Low Yihao champs the B division category. Haha, congrats to Yihao, now he's promoted to Yi Ji. Hahaha, I wanna get Yi Ji too )=, but currently too tied down by academics ... Haizz, Char Yong Cup, R cup final round and the Nationals, missed out on so many important competitions ... I feel as though I am losing my touch with the game.

Currently rewatching an old anime called Hikaru no Go, haha shall use a quote from the anime here.

Yup, I have been overtaken by many players. Yihao, Minghao and many other players. I think I will probably lose if I play them now haha.

CnB mini outing

Went for Chess and Bridge outing today, hahaha watched Chronicles of Narnia. Particularly liked the mouse, very cute and imba!! Took out 5 to 6 soldiers as though they were nothing. Everytime the mouse owns a soldier, it would say, " Yeah! I am a mouse!". The lion was quite cool (= and the teants were beyond godlike. A treant destroyed a catapult with its roots. Hahaha.

Went to play pool with Andre, Jianting and Lerong after that. Haha went beyond godlike in one game and hit in 7 balls, but also sank the black ball twice unintentionally >< .. Lost steam after that and kept giving free balls haha.

Had dinner at KFC after that, gossiped about loads of stuff. Omg, Lerong really knows a lot of people and gossips! Tsk tsk tsk, former chess and bridge chairman is quite knowledgable. He claims I am cheeky haha, perhaps I am just more comfortable with guys.

Didn't study anything at all today >< . 29 topics more to go and I have probably about 4 days to do 29 topics. Haha, it's a challenge to even finish studying everything.

What happened a few weeks ago is probably gonna be one of the greatest regrets I will have in my life, looking ahead ----- BT2!!! Graaah, there is a grand total of 42 topics to study for phy and chem and I have only studied 8 so far, gonna have to do 34 topics in 5.5 days ... Haha, like what marcus said, I will have turn on the accelerator.

That is about 6 topics a day, current rate is 4 topics a day ... Hahahaha, DIEEEEEE .

Saw Zixian's and Leslie's ranting posts on their blogs. Can understand how they feel, coze I feel the same way too --- The feeling of being robbed, the feeling of not getting what you truly deserve, it's enough to make anyone angry ...

Just a quote from Zixian's blog, sort of serves to make the sad ending a not so sad one:

To some of you out there, we may seem to be some emotionally immature individuals who simply cannot take the loss of a championship easily. "Just what's up with all the complaints about how it is unfair", "why do you keep reminding people that you are the best and should be the champions", "walau eh still come up with this super cliche quote to round up your CCA life", this may be how some of you think of us after reading our posts.

Please understand that this championship meant a lot to us and it was already our last competition, being denied of what you strived hard to achieve coze of some stupid reasons (bad timing of H3, 1 ju fen etc), that feeling is terrible. When we say we are the best, we are not boasting coze teams who have fought us feel that we deserve the championship 100%, perhaps it is this fact that makes that feeling of being robbed and all that all the more worse.

Recruited designers of Reputo! PLEASE STOP SLACKING!!!!!! Most of the time end up doing their work for them, I am a damn shi bai recruitment officer...

Finally ... the end of May, how much I have longed for this day ...

There's so much on my mind now ... Well, first things first, H3 is over!!!! (= (= The test today was okay .. screwed up some parts but nvm shldn't be too bad. Well, H3 was a bittersweet experience, learnt loads of stuff (= .

Well, H3 is not really what I want to talk about now ... I want to talk about R cup. Warning: This will be a ranting post. We can never be more unlucky ... My team got 2nd overall in R cup AGAIN!!!!! Though we are supposed to be the BEST team there is.

By the end of round 6, we were leading with 5.5 points out of 6, with AJ trailing close behind us with 5 points. However, there was still one more round and I could not make it for the last round thanks to H3 exam. So we started off the last round with one board down. My teammates did reasonably well, with 1 win 2 draws, overall drew RJC A even though we were one man down. Ended up with 6 points. AJC won their last match, so they also had 6 points.

Comparing opponents' score, both schools were the same!! Next compare 局分, then ... AJC won by 1 局分. So they were the champs. We were 2nd. 2nd thanks to bad timing, 2nd thanks to Tampiness B not performing that teeny weeny bit better to boost our opponent's score (Tampiness B bottomed the table and had a serious impact on our opponent's score), 2nd to a team we DEFEATED 7-1, 2nd DEFINITELY NOT BECAUSE AJC is the BETTER team.

A lot of things could have happened that would change the results. If only H3 didnt clash with R cup, if only Leslie did not underestimate Daoyuan, if only Tampiness B performed better, if only the arbiter did not declare the match a draw (zixian could have won coze the opponent only had 1 minute left, then we would have won RJC A and the champ would be ours).

So many if onlys ... What's the point? We have lost the championship and nothing can change that fact. Why did it have to end this way?? Last yr we got 2nd as well, thanks to the feeder board, and this yr, a combination of many factors stopped us, but there's no denying that we are the best team.

That's probably the end of CCA for me, a pretty sad ending indeed.

1st: AJC A
2nd: HCI A
3rd: RJC A

The results are pretty screwed this yr. Not only because of the 1st and 2nd positions but also the 3rd place. RJC A managed to get 3rd only because they drew us while we were one man down. RJC A is a decent team but 3rd place should belong to NJC A or VJC A based on fighting power. We fought them, we know it.

Personal results for 6 rounds: 5 wins 1 draw, pretty okay but I feel I could have played better.

Going for private lessons again tmr, dunno why I am still continuing since competition is over. I think I just can't stop playing chess.

Probably going to feel better in a few days. It's alright team, we are the best, we know it.

Reputo!!

First session of Reputo! was held successfully today. The elderly had fun with spot the differences, mini sudoku, tangrams, matchsticks and connect 4 haha.

Mini Sudoku was a simplified version of sudoku. Instead of 1 to 9, it's just 1 to 6. Haha, looks like we underestimated their intelligence. Within minutes after giving out the worksheets ...

Andre: Hey no one is helping the pair of elderly over there ...
Me: Erm I think they have finished...
Andre: ?!?!
-Juliana walks over and checks their answers-
Juliana: All correct! Very good!!

-Stuns- ... Haha looks like we can upgrade to the normal sudoku alrdy. Even the slower ones manage to complete it by themselves after trying out the first few questions.

Spot the differences was rather interactive, haha some of them were pretty sharp.

The harder ones for them were probably tangrams and the matchstick puzzles. Well, that's something to keep them busy with (= .

There was a short debrief after the session. The manager basically wanted to know what we are going to do for tmr and who will be coming.

Manager: So Alvin, Andre and Jian Ping will be coming tmr?
Andre: Er no, actually it should be Jian Ting
Manager: HUH? So it's Jian Ping or Jian Ting?

Haha, tmr will be a problem, apparently only me and Andre can make it. Woah, Course instructor ICs weilun and koymin MIA for the whole week!!! GG. Truth or Dare!!

Haha, I must be crazy, making two posts on the same day ... Well that was enough emoing in the last post. I am just glad that HC cup is over, end of all the saikang (= . Stepping down next friday, really looking forward to it, though I haven't really settled the club CIP stuff yet haha.

Went to play pool for 2 hours ++ after the competition, haha it was really fun! Screwed up some simple shots but also made some rather brilliant shots (= . Haha, fluctuating performance. Lerong's team kept losing to liu yang's team and he was rather zzz lol.

Boon Pin got influenced by me and now he's obssessed with the 3x3x3 rubik's cube, hahahahaha.

The real fun came during dinner. Mi, Jianting, Zixian, Boon Pin, Brian, Andre and Liu Yang played zhong ji mi ma cum truth or dare. HAHAHA, Andre tio once then he chose to do a dare where he carried a round table and ran around the hawker centre :P. I can still rmb it so clearly haha. Brian suggested the next person who do a dare shall do the same but this time sing the national anthem while doing it as well and suddenly there were almost no more dares after that.

Boon Pin was made to call and play a prank on his female cousin.

Boon Pin: Hey! I am right outside your house now, pls open the door for me.
-Cousin opens the door-, -finds no one there-
Cousin: Where are you?
Boon Pin: Haha nth, juz joking around.

In the end, Boon Pin's mother called him and questioned him why he did tt LOL!!

Andre was also made to carry some wires and power source to the other end of the hawker centre, then one of the workers was like ... where are the wires?!?! When the worker found out and was walking past our table, Jianting asked "Excuse me, can I use the wires?"(he wanted to charge his phone), the worker's expression immdiately went ... HAHAHA. From then on, JianTing was banned from doing dares coze it was rather pointless. He is daring!

Well, I guess I am going to start having "withdrawal symptoms" soon. I am gonna miss this kind of gatherings.

Haizzz, fun's over. It's back to being emo again ... With H3, Club CIP, SL, I am about to get crushed. Not to mention R Cup, which is gonna take away 2 of my studying days )= ... May May end soon ... For some reason, I prefer BT2.

HC cup comes to an end

HC cup comes to a close yesterday, results were rather disappointing. The 4 swords lost 3-5 narrowly to AJC in the championship match. Jinxiang won Tim and I drew Xian Kai, Leslie lost to Justino and Zixian lost to Hsien Yong. It was quite a shock and with that the championship was gone ..

Next round was against Nanyang JC, we destroyed them 8-0, no prob with that but rather pointless. My team got 3rd in the end, a far cry from what we achieved last yr ..

Well, I am sure the 4 of us have the ability but this time we just couldn't do it. Here's what we've achieved:

Round 1: Hwa Chong A VS Jurong JC C ==> 8-0 (=
Round 2: Hwa Chong A VS RJC A ==> 8-0 (=
Round 3: Hwa Chong A VS NJC A ==> 3-5 )= )=
Round 4: Hwa Chong A VS PJC A ==> 7-1 (=
Round 5: Hwa Chong A VS AJC A ==> 3-5 )= )=
Round 6: Hwa Chong A VS Nanyang JC A ==> 8-0 (=
Round 7: Hwa Chong A VS Hwa Chong B ==> 5-3 (Hwa Chong B threw us up)

Both rounds 3 and 5 were narrow losses, with 1 win 1 draw and 2 losses each. It's hard to imagine that two of us would lose at the same time in one round. Just what happened?? Oh wells, maybe we underestimated our opponents, maybe we weren't too focused, maybe there are just too many emerging strong players.

Perhaps we weren't too focused, especially trying to juggle both competition and admin work(since it's our own cup) at the same time. There are probably other factors as well, Leslie didn't seem to be very focused as his father just had a surgery and things dun seem too good, just hope he gets over it soon. Zixian also didn't seem to be very focused in his match against Hsien Yong, rather shocking to see him having a 20 minute disadvantage.

Here's a summary of personal results
Zixian: 5 wins 1 loss
Me: 4 wins 2 draws
Jinxiang: 4 wins 1 draw 1 loss
Leslie: 4 wins 2 loss

Hope things get better by R cup, jiayou teammates!! We shall get our revenge in R cup :D!! Through this competition, I dun feel like I have kept my promise about bringing my team to victory ... Though I didn't lose, I didn't manage to win the crucial matches against NJ and AJ. Simply not losing won't be enough, I have to become stronger..

Well, let's just let this be a wakeup call for us, we have to get back to our top form in order to emerge victorious in R cup, where competition is even more intense.

This is probably the last month the 4 of us are gonna compete as a team in competitions ... Must treasure and enjoy this experience, as the saying goes ... 'When the 4 swords unite" hahaha.

Well, the four of us are considered the golden generation since sec 3, with many groundbreaking achievements in Char Yong, Raffles Cup etc. While that may be true, there were only a few times the four of us played together as a team. HC cup and R cup are the last two opportunities where we get to play as a team, lets make it a memorable one.

Final preparations for HC cup yesterday was pretty funny, played at a secluded corner of coro till 9.30pm, lol ... it was really fun training together. I will miss this experience ..

HC cup commenced today, well our position can be likened to Brazil participating in World Cup ... aiming for nothing except for champion. First two rounds were okay, won both opponents 8-0. We met our downfall in round 3 against NJC ... Just like how Brazil met its downfall against France in the previous World Cup. Lost 5-3 ... haizzz, 1 win 1 draw 2 losses. Zixian basically chopped his opponent after earning a seed, I could hardly get any advantage and my game ended up in a draw. Leslie fought this super imba guy and lost then Jinxiang lost to Lianquan.

It was the first defeat at our home ground, round 4 opponent was Pioneer JC and we juz chopped them 7-1 lol ... I used less than 5 minutes against my opponent lol ... First time I won so fast apart from the 17 step match in the Xin Ma cup last yr. To our relief, AJ won NJ in the 4th round and our current standing is 2nd place, trailing behind AJ by 1 match point, meaning we still have a shot at the championship (= . Our position is just like Chelsea before they fought Man U, lose the match against AJ next week and the championship will be as good as gone ... GRRR, we can do it!!!

My sword is still too blunt ... either I take damn long to win or can't win )= ... zzz, must be more aggressive!! If only I had been strong enough to win the match then my team could have been saved from defeat, I did promise to bring my team to victory after all ..

H3 test: 30th May. R cup: 28th - 30th May ... I am sooooo dead.

Really have a lot on my mind now, shall pen them down one by one ..

First up last Saturday, H3 practical was a disaster haha ... I am clumbsy in the lab, poked myself with a needle accidentally and forgot to turn on the tap during reflux, I think my yield would be rather sad haha, lab report by next monday and I haven't started hahaha ..

Then it was chem o dinner treat after that. Hahahaha, it was quite good, interesting to see everyone getting together but not mugging for the first time. Everyone was quite sociable though it was rather zzzz when some of them didnt know jian ting and mi... hahaha but not in position to complain since jianting and me didnt know every single on of them either. Had the dinner at crystal jade, ate 2 bowls of rice .. should be reasonable ba. There were loads of gossips, eg some scandal about some HC boy and a RJ girl.. then there was some talk about a 女强人 who basically topped the level in everything and how Chen Lu seemed to be her successor haha.

Well my original plan was to eat for a while then go for guitar concert, but Mr Lee was like "Dun go la, dun go la, got traffic jam, wont get good seats etc etc ... ". Gave in in the end haha, wouldn't be really nice to leave early .. Went to have ice cream for dessert after that, Miss Bob discovered that I brought 2 cubes then lol ... so ended up teaching miss bob how to solve the cube. There were plans to watch movie but it was too late haha so everyone juz said goodbye.

Btw, miss bob is damn smart, she learnt the first two layers in like 1 hour??

In addition, there was an interesting case of the missing car keys ... LOL, shan't talk about it.

This week has been rather busy, mock spa, econs TA etc. TA sucked ... I guess I am juz cmi at writing essays I guess.

Coach called and told me about the plans for a China trip this June .. about 6 people will be going for the trip and he really wants me to go. It is rare opportunity since I get to play adults in China, not to mention get a chance to play coach everyday for the whole of June. Opportunity cost ==> BT2!! Coach just told me to bring my stuff and study there .. wth he juz makes it sound so easy .. Aiyaaa .. how how???? )= . Coach claims that it has been his 20 year long dream, haizzzzzzz ...

Anyway shall go watch one piece now ... haha it's damn nice. LOL, being random again ..

Got a new pair of specs ... surprisingly my degree didnt really go up hahaha. Haiz, was busy adjusting my new specs while trying tor read the screen during phy tut and Ms Li went 'Alvin, u need to change ur specs" =.= ... Haha nvm, tt was rather dumb.

Today was a really really bad day. Here's how it started, my mum woke me up and the first thing she told me was that the alarm did not ring and it was already 6.30am?!?! arrrgh, mum gave me extra 10 dollars so that I could cab to school, but the cab fee was a grand total of $16!! Felt rather broke for the rest of the day ..

Developed a headache later on in the day, but got saved by the panadol ..

H3 retest was a disaster again, zzz maybe I just think too much ... Haizzz, I feel dumb ..

R cup registration is driving me mad .. now I appreciate how tough is it to settle this kind of admin stuff, it's easier being a player than being a leader.

Havent studied for SPA A yet ... gg think I shall read on the bus tmr and have an early night, dun want to spend another $16 on cab :S

Blow after blow ...

Shall not give a damn about 擂台赛 anymore, it's freaking inflexible and stupid ... Leslie was supposed to play on friday but he couldn't make it on friday due to H3 and the next person was me but I had a H3 test today and I wanted to study ... Leslie was eliminated by default, and as if that wasn't enough, they threatened to eliminate me if I didn't go ... I really didn't want to go, but I felt that it wouldn't be right if I didn't go, so I went ... One loss and one draw, overall lost, totally ruined my mood that day. Didn't play really well yesterday ... disappointed everyone... haizzz.

Just wished that coach would be a little more understanding and flexible, all he is concerned about is just making sure that this competition runs smoothly and disregards the burdens and commitments we J2s have. We are only playing the cup just because we show him respect. If that is so, they can win the cup for all they want, I shan't care anymore ...

Perhaps it was a mistake to even play in this cup in the first place, it seems all J2 is not a good time to play chess, as seen from the poor Char Yong Cup performance. Nevertheless, the fact that you have lost, Alvin, no excuses. I still have loads more to work on.

H3 test today totally screwed me )= , it was like an olympiad paper... haizzz, just hoping to pass. These are probably the worst 2 days I have ever had, must pick myself up though.

Hwa Chong Cup on 10th and 17th May ... Though things are looking pretty bleak, I promise I will do my best to bring the team to victory. I promise I shan't lose again.

It's back to the routine chess lessons every Saturday for me, same old people there - Shi Jie, Han Loong, William and small Nicholas. The big Nicholas didn't come though. Played shuang ma with coach, ended up in a draw thanks to the 铁中兵 rule, zzz, coach tried to be evil and make me drop clock but failed haha ...

It's been a long time since I touched chess, didn't go for lessons for the whole of March thanks to olympiad and BT. Thankfully haven't really lost my touch, played Han Loong today, won 2-0. First match I was rather screwed though, but somehow I managed to get his car and so I won. Second match was rather dumb, he kept throwing his pieces away just to attack me, but managed to defend properly and yep, tt's about it. Didn't get to play coach in a proper match... Haizzz.

Things are looking rather bleak for the 4 of us. Zixian has told us to be prepared that he might get banned from CCA acitivities due to his BT results. Our formation will then have a loophole, argh, dun want a repeat a last yr's nightmare ... When can we be at our best :-S ? On the other hand, Leslie's results dun seem optimistic too. To make matters worse, Jinxiang's has drowned himself in contract bridge ... Can we get Raffles Cup champ and defend our own HC cup like this??

擂台赛 updates: Zixian has decided to drop out and concentrate on studies, next up is Leslie, very soon it will be me ... must not screw this up.

Had the practical test today and that marks the end of phase I training (= Oh well, in other words, the end of the olympiad. The prac test was rather fun: spectrometry (= , kinda reminds me of the high school days of using the spectrophotometer. I suppose everything went on fine except for the fact that I left out the last step where I forgot multiply my concentration by ten coze I diluted the solution 10 times beforehand, so my final answer was 10 times smaller than what it should be -.- Haha, only I forgot to multiply zzz, feel dumb )=

It only seemed like yesterday when I took the first selection test, I remembered that jt and I were just having the "just try it out" mindset and ever since then we got through one selection test after another until today that is, where it all truly ends. Quite a bittersweet ending. It has been an enriching experience even though it was full of setbacks --- Numerous times when I mugged like crazy and still get pawned hahaha. With that said, I can get back to my normal life (=.

Received back the chem retest today, it was still okay though not perfect. I still have a loong way to go ...

Missed out on both the math test and retest, must find some time to catch up again. Probability sucks, stuck at question 3 )= . Not to mention EMI tut, chem skill A and the omnipresent TIME. Not really in the mood to work though especially since all the tests are over )= ..

擂台赛 updates: Zixian takes out both player 8 and 9 from the high school side. High school side is down to their last player while JC side still has the 4 heavenly kings (Zixian, Leslie, Jinxiang and me) . 胜券在望 haha but the last player of the high school side would not be easy to deal with. Afterall, skills count more than numbers but if nothing goes wrong, the JC side should be able to emerge victorious (=.

Had Chemistry restest today, zzz, was only informed at 9pm yesterday night about the retest so didn't study for it. Guess what Mr Lee said when he passed us the papers today? "Haha! It was quite an imba test, mi and jianting couldn't finish :S :S. Dunno abt the rest ..

Went to play pool after that, haha quite some time nvr play le .. Got one game I hit the black ball in then I was so happy then the cue ball went into another hole -.- so considered I lose ... Couldn't be more unlucky haha ...

Watched Spiderwick Chronicles at West Mall after that, haha at least didn't watch the wrong movie this time, way way better than the stupid, lame, emo "Mist". The show is pretty light hearted and the goblins very cute(though stupid)!! The way they defeated the ogre was stupid but funny, LOL can't believe that the ogre was the so-called ultimate villian lar ...

*Spoiler Alert* Particularly liked the scene where they lured the goblins into the kitchen and then they lighted up a trail which led to the microwave oven. The leader of the goblins realised it but it was too late then he was like "Oh shit!" then the microwave oven exploded and tomato sauce flooded the kitchen, killing all the goblins(tomato sauce is the only thing that can kill goblins in the show). Quite a sadistic scene and the goblins were really stupid ..

Math retest on Thursday (probably) ... Dun feel like studying at all and since school resumes on Thursday, that probably means I should finish probability tut as well but I feel like slacking haha...

Chem O test T____T

T_____T. Chem O selection test sucked. First few questions still okay, though as usual can't simplify the expression for steady state approximation. Electrochem question was rather weird, didn't really know what was going on .. think my answer is wrong haha.

The most okay question was perhaps question 5 and 8, the inorganic question and the synthesis question.

The WORST was the biochem question. Already predicted that the biochem question would pawn me .. The first part of the question --- Illustrate the "Krebs cycle", including the involvement of pyruvate and acetyl-CoA. Totally a bio question, so non-bio students like me all died, even bio students had difficulty with it. The other parts were like "draw the fischer projection for galactose", as if we could remember, the structures for carbohydrates all so similar .. zzzz ... left the entire question blank, this really sucks ..

Haha, enough ranting about the test. Phy test next Mon, expected to be a killer like chem and math .. Haizzz... must jiayou.

Heard chem paper was really really difficult .. well was expecting this sort of thing to happen in Prelims, to think they'll do it at BT1 .. Oh wells, at least I think I will prefer to take this paper compared to the one tomorrow ..

Feeling really vexed now .. brain seems to have reached its limit of storing information .. nothing seems to be going in )= )=. For topics that I have studied during the hols, can't seem to rmb them now .. arrgh I feel empty.

U18 charyong ... a fiasco

Haizz, this year's Char Yong is screwed .. especially U18. Specially took time off from my studying and went down to Kampong Glam CC to watch the competition. Quite a big disappointment, numerous black horses this year, e.g Minghao, Yihao, Teophillius, Si Yi etc. Results were quite disappointing, from our school, only zixian got into the top 8 --- 6th to be exact and only Timothy from AJ got into the top 8 (7th place).

It was a peculiar sight when I entered the competition hall --- seated at table one was Minghao and Ji Fang ... ZZZ, all the usual sharks, especially those who were in top 8 last year, were seated around the middle ?!?! Just what the hell is going on??? U18 category dominated by secondary school people?!?! Though I must say that they are strong players but dominating our category just seems too ... arggghh ...

U16 and U14 results were MUCH MUCH better (= . High school side grabs top 3 places in U14 and for U16, Han Loong got 2nd and Henry got 4th. Asked Han Loong to treat me, then he was like " I didn't receive my prize money!! They ran out of money!!" HAHAHAHA, lol ... Anyway, good job Han Loong.

For the girls category, Nicole (our newly recruited J1) got 5th, just one ranking away from getting a prize. Quite unlucky but nevertheless a job well done. As usual, Fiona and Qi Min pwned the girls category upside down.

Haizz, sacrificed my study time today to go and watch U18 get dominated by secondary sch people. Feel rather bu shuang to the extent I ate a lot for dinner again ... This time one bowl of sliced fish bee hoon plus 2 bowls of 花生汤圆 (In total 12 tang yuans) ... My AJ friends were rather shocked at my appetite haha ...

Well seems like I won't die from mugging this hols ... Mr Lee appealed for our exemption and was successful, so math and chem will be snowballed to prelims, can nvr thank him enough (=. Well, this just means that all the more I have to study harder for next week's test, though I think 结果还是一样 (this is what my coach likes to say to us whenever we play him). Left 30 plus pages of organic chem to go for today, arrgghh, brain reaching its limit of storing info juz for organic chem alone zzz ...

The past 2 days were quite fun (though things get rather boring sometimes), the sessions were held at NIE (= (= , haha so near to my home for the first time (= (= ... Learnt electrochem, equilibria, phase equilibria and inorganic chem.

The teacher for electrochem didn't seem to like us - Huang Pei came in home clothes and got zhammed, whereas people from other schools who did the same didn't. For the rest of us, we were 10 mins late and we got niaoed like mad, and people from other schools came later than us and didn't get scolded. Haha, oh wells, thankfully the other lecturers weren't like that ...

Phase equilibria sucks ... how the hell is it possible to rmb all the eqns )= ...

Inorganic was really boring lol ... to the extent that Huang Pei and I started having a "msn" convo using GC. Haha, after the session Huang Pei said goodbye to us, we waved goodbye too then started stalking him LOL ... but we got found out and in the end he managed to lose us. Haven't posted in a while ... Haizz, been really really busy )= . Shall start with my birthday, haha got a 4x4x4 rubiks cube from my sis and some Eng albums from my friends (= ..

H3 test today was generally okay, just screwed up some minor parts.

Well, such happiness is short-lived, the thought of what's gonna happen in March gives me the shivers. Haizz, olympiad training takes up 3 whole days in the March hols ... that leaves me with just 6 days to study for BT1 ... well maybe 5 coze I didn't study today at all )= ... On top of that, the theory selection test is on 19th March while the practical is on 26th March -faints- ... think I will just explode at the selection test )=)=)= . No time to prepare for it anywayz. Perhaps this is where it truly ends ..

Perhaps I made the right decision not to go for Char Yong this yr, or I will only have tmr to study for blocks ... but I wanna play ;( Haizzzz, nvms I will get my chance in April ..

Shall sleep early tonight and mug full time tmr, dunno which subject to start with though )= ...

Haizz, something really stupid happened yesterday again. Jian Ting called and told me that there wasn't olympiad training and I juz took it as tt as I rmbed Mr Rudy Lee said that the training session might be postponed to a later date due to release of A lvl results.

However, tt wasn't the case ... there WAS a training session yesterday and I freaking missed it .. )= )= )= ... Sam Lee met us this morning and reprimanded all of us in the sense --- Jian ting and me for not asking whether there was a training session, Huang Pei for not telling the rest of us that he had competition tt day so that the rest of us can inform the lecturer, Xing Kai and Chao Tong for not informing us that there was a training session since they knew abt it.

Feel rather bad now coze it's mostly Jianting's and my fault for not knowing about it coze we didn't send our emails to the NUS person and as a result we didn't we didn't receive the information and notes which was sent via email. Afterall, Xing Kai and Chao Tong didn't know that we didn't know, so feel rather bad that they got blamed ... Haizz

Sam Lee encouraged us to improve communications among the 5 of us and now we got everyone's number and emails, hopefully this won't happen again ...

Had a close to 5 hr nap today, didnt know I was this tired. Shall go do physics tut now, wonder what time I gonna sleep tonight...

SICC is rather ulu ... met at thomson plaza on Saturday 4pm, well it was a nightmare trying to get to SICC, went to the wrong SICC near mac reservoir instead of the one near thomson, ZZZ $20 on cab fare ($5 each person), arrived damn late... well sorta lied and said there was a traffic jam to prevent ourselves from becoming a laughing stock but obviously we weren't very convincing.

Anyway JTS was fun (=, though the money I paid to get in and out of SICC could alrdy buy me a meal haha ... Ordered some swedish meat balls spaghetti but had problems finishing it coze I had a late lunch at 3 plus, Cheryl seemed rather shocked that I had problems finishing my meal haha. Marcus totally ruined my spaghetti by pouring the whole bowl of cheese in it, totally dried up my throat zzz.

Juniors got me a birthday cake, how nice!! Haha even though my birthday was not until 8 days later. Managed to make myself eat the cake despite being rather full alrdy. Almost got thrown into the pool lol ... Went pool and bowling after that, played a bit of pool, rather long nvr play le but I guess I still played okay haha. Didn't bowl... coze I was rather nua by then ... watched them bowl. Haha, yiting was really cute! Nicole gave marcus, xinying jieying and mi a lift home, haha how nice!! Really admire people whose parents have cars ..

Today was just another typical Monday, haizz ... Feel asleep during H3 while the lecturer was telling us the story of how Kekule dreamt about a snake coiling about itself and with a stroke of genius, deduced the structure of benzene -.- . Went to J8 after that to buy birthday present for my friend, wanted to buy a bag but zinc was closed ... so bought something else instead haha. Met Wayne on the bus home and he offered me a lift home!! lol I love our juniors (= . Coincidentally, jieying was on the 174 right behind the 157 we were taking, so she got a lift home as well (= . Strange how small the world is.

Ares won the fac dance competition. Strange it's like dejavu .. Athena wins war games, Apollo wins drama fest while Ares wins fac dance session ..

Finished the GP hw given today, dunno if I should do work at this time now. MAS essay is gg, supposed to submit in early March, now is Feb 25th and I havent touched it!! AAAHH, zzz I am so dead )= .

A number of events happened last week and this week. For chess, leslie got champ for the welfare week competition, haizzz, we should have killed him, thought we had a promise not to ruin competitions like this ... 擂台赛 updates, player 5 of JC side is up --- Boon Pin and player 1 of high school side is finally down!!!!

ZZZ, our player 4(liang jie) shouldn't have been eliminated, he had fencing that day so my coach decided he lost by default?!?! The reason being the competition has to go on, this is god damn unfair and biased, as if the high school does not have a big enough advantage alrdy. Coach is obviously biased to the high school side, he even drafted scenarios of how the JC side would lose. For example, 2 players from high school for 1 player from JC, well the problem with this is that it's not the numbers tt matter, it's the skill. There are cases where a really imba player can take out the entire team, so it's probably all down to the 4 of us.

Had a 4 hour nap today, rather shocked, didn't know I was that tired ... Just finished econs, lol the work was rather sloppy -- 2 pages for 3 essay outlines -.- totally dunno what to write for the 2nd question. Physics is rather difficult, partly becoze I missed a lecture last week )= .

Got pretty ill seriously this time round ... fever, cough, flu, backache and headache )= ... Got a 2 day MC as the doc predicted that I may not get well in just one day. Decided not to go for char yong this yr -sobs-, since chem o training would take up most of the hols alrdy and there's blocks right after that. Haizz, it wasn't an easy decision to make. Had the econs timed assignment today, I suppose it wasn't too bad but could've been better though, lack of time basically )= .

Went to watch "The mist" today. Arrrggh, it's quite sucky actually. The plot really sucks ... it was only halfway through the show when they finally explained the cause of the "mist", there was also this really irritating character who kept preaching about god's punishment and wrath and turned the humans against one another. The ending was really sad and stupid too. HAIZ, waste of $$$ ...

Spent all of my money again today, this is like the dunno what time I went bankrupt again haha ... Must keep a check on my spending habits ...

擂台赛 updates

Player 3 from JC side was up today, and he lost... now JC side is 3 players down, ZZZ ... Haizz, nvm our 4th player is liangjie, so should be okay ... time we took down some of their players haha ...

CNY's approaching but I am not visiting anyone this yr ... tt's so sad )= ... Shall just rot at home then and there's a stupid econs timed assignment before CNY, raaahhh, may CNY arrive soon ... Feel damn lethargic now, no mood to do anything even though there's a phy tut, econs timed assignment and TIME magazines to do. Really hate J2 life, everyone is just mugging like machines ...

The first half of March will be a very hiong one for me ... First up, there's Char Yong Cup during the hols and BT1 right after the hols. To make matters worse, the icho selection test is during the BT1 period!!! I think I may just collapse and die ... think I might just give up the selection test and mug for BT1 instead. As for Char Yong this year, there may be no incentive for me to participate this year since there have been rumours that the national youth team who will represent Singapore in the Xin Ma Cup has already been decided (Yihao and his gang). This is against the tradition that the top 4 of U18 get to represent Singapore, if tt's the case there's no meaning in going for it anymore ...

Anyway, it's jian ting's birthday tmr haha ... wonder if he will get poled on monday and ya well, it will be probably be my turn one month later, Marcus will make sure it happens ><.

CnB dinner

Today was a rather looong day ... CT ended half an hour later and as a result I was late for the first icho training session along with huang pei, jian ting, xing kai and chao tong ><. Well, the first session was simply a 2 and a half hour lecture ... was dying by the 2nd hour but at least I didn't get pawned by the lecture. It sort of refreshed my memory of all the stuff I learnt last yr, so it was rather fruitful (= .

Went for club dinner at curry wok after that, was so damn hungry then (coze I didnt eat lunch) I juz simply ate and didn't really talk to the seniors haha. I just kept asking for more rice and in the end when the people at the other table were about to leave, I was still eating ... Next time there is a club dinner, I should nvr sit beside leslie, or the dishes at that side of the table will just disappear very quickly haha.

As for the 擂台赛, current update is 2 players from the JC side are down and the high school side is still maintaining a perfect record. Haiz, rather shocked that peter is their first player )= ... apparently they really sent their best players, plus they got 外援 --- william from cat high and nicholas from xinmin. 真是的, looks like they are treating this rather seriously, zzzz ....

Jinxiang is our 擂台主, LOL ... It really seems as though the JC side didn't really put in much consideration in the order of our players ... feels as though we are just screwing around. Zixian's number 7, leslie number 8 and I am player number 9. I dun suppose it will have to come down to me since zixian and leslie are before me, would be rather screwed if it does ...

My wednesdays from now on will be rather tiring, but I guess it's all worth it. Nth to do now, guess I shall go do vectors 4 before sleeping. No H3 tmr, damn happy haha.

STJ, 擂台赛!!

Yesterday was a long and tiring day. Shall start with the morning bah, well woke up late at 8 plus, zzz, only left home at 9 though that was supposed to be the time my lesson starts, but nvm such things are flexible haha. Laoshi's com broke down again, feel rather sad for him now that he can't play online, which is basically what he does everyday now. Played two matches with him, won one and drew one, well not because he's deproving but because we were testing out a variation and based on the results, tt variation does not work out well for black ...

Well something unprecedented and interesting is gonna happen between the high school side and JC side. It's called the 擂台赛. Basically, each side chooses 10 players and in order of skill rank their players 1 to 10, with 1 being the weakest and 10 the strongest (aka 擂台主). The first player of one side will play the first player of the other side and if one side wins, the winner gets to stay and he will then play the 2nd player from the opponent and this continues until the 擂台主 is defeated. Quite an interesting way to compete, haha. Well Leslie, zx and me would be players 8,9,10, only question is who will be the 擂台主 haha. Quite stressful to be 擂台主, especially when everything comes down to you.

Went to Clementi to cut my hair after that, then went to Orchard to buy birthday present for my friend and as if that wasn't enough, walked to PS with my friend to buy some more presents (though in the end we didn't buy anything -.-" ) It was STJ after that, they were surprisingly on time (referring to senior class only) . Ordered spaghetti again despite the nightmare at fish and cos, it was okay though the cheese made me a bit sick, went to the arcade after that though I didn't play anything coze I was broke after buying a brand new rubik's cube for $10.90.

A point of note, Charles(small) is damn smart, hahaha.

All the stuff that happened after the arcade, well it's rather stupid haha, no point talking about it. There were loads of stars that night though (= .

Haven't touched TIME, and still haven't gotten enough people SL, raaaaahhh, must jia ba jing!!!

Argh, runny nose and infected throat, was at home the whole day damn sian ... Revised integration, but I used most of the day to pack my J1 stuff (=, threw away lots of PW stuff, now the stack of papers is much thinner, feel so proud of myself haha. Missed loads of stuff including my H3 today, haizzz ... what an untimely period to fall sick.

Had a chat with my senior just now, and he actually asked me if I have started preparing for BT1 ?!?! Well, he told me he got his worst results during BT1 in J2, S for physics, that's really scary. Now I am really considering if I want to participate in Char Yong, I really want to play Xin Ma Cup again but I dun want to screw up BT1 as well, RAAAHH, damn vexed now.

Been "volunteered" to be a econs peer tutor, ZZZ. Well, I dun really think my econs is tt good, it was thanks to CA which pulled my grades up. I seriously have no idea how I am going to do this, unlike math peer tutoring, there isn't any questions for both tutor and tutee to prepare or anything. I am going to feel so pissed if they tell me it's all up to me how I want to tutor ...

An Eventful Saturday

Orientation campfire was fun, haha, went to eat at Newton food centre after the event with junior class and missed the last train. So it was a "finding a way home" mission after supper with jieying, zixian, weicheng and kah wee. Took us a bit of effort but we managed to find a bus stop with NRs and took NR5 home, it was 2 am when I reached home. lol ...

Went for chess lesson on the same day (well it's technically the same day), played dan ma again, zzz, result was a draw ( ju ju ma draw ju pao), no one could have believed, could have won if I had more time, haizzz. played han loong and william too. Han Loong seemed to be screwing around and william seemed a bit out of touch. Won both matches in less than 20 steps, couldn't believe it ...

Went K-ster after that, haha zixian is our "王力宏". After he sang 花田错 quite well, almost every leehom's song is thrown to him. Was rather low at the start coze I didn't sleep much thanks to campfire but got on pretty well after that. Too bad, had to leave early with zx to collect our prize of the Yishun competition, zzz. 6th prize, haizz, $100 voucher for some mei hua products, quite fei but coach agreed to give us money dollar for dollar in exchange for the voucher (= ...

Forgoed a money-making opportunity today, could have earned 20 dollars if I went to help beidou play against bai sha dong even if i lose but I can get extra money on top of the 20 dollars if I achieve at least a draw. Well, beidou lost 9-13 according to latest intel, quite surprising but I was informed tt alvin woo, my coach, ling guang hao and kang de rong all nvr play. LOL, no wonder.

My angel has not written to me yet, zzz, if this continues I would expect it's a guy and tt makes it two guys for me, can't be more unlucky haha.

Haiz, just came back, gg still got econs to do and havent started studying at all for chem test, zzz ... H3 today sucked, rather a waste of time, there were only 2 meaningful slides on molecular orbital theory, the rest ... just normal A level stuff we have learnt. Hope it gets more interesting ...

Rather tired now dun know if I should study for the test tmr ... even though I did agree that I would jump off the clock tower if clement beats me, haha ... haiya settle econs first bah.

Officially broke again after buying the mortal present, left my $1.60 change at KFC after eating a 3 piece chicken meal. raaahhh ... must keep a watch on my spending habits ...

2 juniors from 08s6c joined CnB, yay! not my division though, one i chess one bridge, but nonetheless better than nothing. CCA orientation was okay, busy trying to 拉客 and entertain people. Xueying came to visit us too, a good and bad thing. Good thing is she helped us to 拉客, bad thing is ... well she's rather intimidating, haha ...

Competition this Sunday but dun think I am going, zzz two tests next week, havent started revising ... haiz week 2 only den so hiong le ... not much time to slack )=

Haizz, missed chess lesson yesterday just so I could do my I and I, zzzzz... it's one of the boring things I ever did. Well, as expected, lessons began almost immediately ever since term started, looks like this year is gonna be much more imba than the last .. Wish I was still J1, )= ...

Checked out the list for our junior class, no one I know of, haizz ... 9 girls 17 boys, quite the opposite from our class. Well this year seems pretty screwed, we have up to 08S6V but only up to 08S7B, dunno why the sudden craze over physics compared to bio. This means a lot of bio classes (from 7C onwards) do not have a junior class and a lot of C1 physics classes do not have a senior class! LOL. Looking forward to angel mortal game, hope I dun get a dao one though.

K box this Saturday, woah again ... my spending habits have become extreme ever since I came to JC. The people going are some J2s and a J3 senior from chess and bridge... Well that's going to be the first fun thing I do in 2008 probably. The venue is somewhere in Chinatown, $10 only lol, among the cheapest you can find in Singapore.

Going for the prize presentation ceremony for the Yishun competition this Saturday as well, 6th is not bad for us I guess, $25 for each of us, not too shabby. Hope it doesn't clash with the K-box though.

Haizz, Zixian and I are pretty troubled about char yong cup this year ... it's during the March hols, to be exact, it will take up two days and THE WEEKEND BEFORE OUR FIRST BLOCK TEST ... Dunno if I should participate ... This is a really hard choice to make, it is our last go at Char Yong cup but I dun want to screw up the first blocks ... ARGHH, studies and chess... which should I pick?? I really want to get top 4 and participate in Xin Ma Cup again ... This year's competition will be really intense as well, to add on to the pressure, Mun Kiat told me that many people will be taking note of my games this year. Will I be able to live up to expectations?

Chem O results out this month, well I am not expecting much ever since the theory paper destroyed me ...

On a brighter note, I am just left with one more exercise for AQ. Got a new iPod classic (= , yay!! 80GB, pawns my shuffle upside down inside out, but can only use it after I get the protective cover though ...

Yishun South CC team competition part two

What a long day it has been ... a lot of funny things happened today, dunno where to start. First round against Boon Lay team B, the round was starting and both my coach and leslie were no where to be found. Zixian called them only to find out that coach was stuck in the MRT (will be elaborated further on) and leslie took the wrong direction of the MRT!! ZZZ, it was really nerve wrecking but in the end leslie made it in time but not coach, so my coach's match was declared a loss )=

Coach arrived 35 minutes after the first round started )= .... sianzz it was really unlucky. Apparently someone committed suicide on the MRT track, causing a part of the North-South line (somewhere near Kranji) to halt their service, so my coach was stuck in the MRT for like 20 minutes, before the civil service came to pry the door open >.< He spent $15 on taxi fare just to get there but still couldn't make it in time. He was damn pissed and so were we ... because of that 冤枉 loss, our team drew with Boon Lay team B. zzzzzzzz....

For me, I played against Zhang You Bin, supposedly an imba player(maybe 甲级) and I won very quickly coze he moved an opening that I was familiar with and I sacrificed car and won ... strictly speaking it was a 陷阱布局 and he fell right into it, so it was pretty tyco that I won. I think if we were to play again I would lose.

Second round was against Bouna Vista A, haizz played against zhu yong ji, a national player. My time was running out then I 放出胜负手 but lost in the end coze of four words that my coach likes to use: 对手太强.

My team got third in the group round robin matches. Basically there are 2 groups of 6 teams each and within each group, every team has to fight it out with the other 5 teams for group ranking. The top 2 from each group will then fight it out for 1st to 4th placing overall, 3rd and 4th from each group will then fight it out for 5th to 8th and so on and so forth. So we had to fight for 5th placing, out coach then went off to play mahjong with his friends coze he felt there was no meaning in fighting for fifth?!?!?! @#$%^&*().

LOL, ever since coach left it was pressure free as our team was down to three men. So ... haizz 3rd round today was against 白沙东, played a China guy, was pretty tired then and sort of screwing around, but I managed to draw the game in the end, leslie won but zixian lost so it was our team's loss and here is where the funny thing happened ... Apparently the 白沙东 players sat at the wrong boards and it was declared our win by default, LOL haha a competition on Christmas Day is so screwed. We gave Boon Lay one board as a Christmas gift, and now 白沙东 gave us theirs in the form of a team victory. Christmas is a season of giving afterall.

Last game was against Boon Lay B(again!), but this time their formation was different. Played against Ming Hao, was down 2 pawns but managed to draw the game with much effort. Both Zixian and Leslie lost though, so we lost for real this time. A very amusing thing happened though, Zixian's opponent was the opponent I tycoed this morning. They moved EXACTLY the SAME thing and Zixian also set up EXACTLY the SAME trap, but obviously this time Zhang didn't fall into the trap so Zixian lost. Zixian didn't know that I won him using tt trap this morning and felt stupid for setting up the same trap ... Zixian could have won though if Zhang didn't play me this morning, haha what a twist of fate ...

6th overall, not too bad I guess, considering our coach pungseh us for the last 2 rounds. Personal record: 3 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws.

Econs hw due tmr, haven't touched it but dun think anyone is doing so I just take my time bah ...

Yishun South CC team competition Part 1

Had competition for the whole day today, this competition was kinda special --- out of 4 members in the team, one of them must be above 45 years old. No need to guess who's the one who is older than 45 years old on my team. It's my coach, haha ... yeah same team as coach for the first time, kinda shuang coze confirm at least one win every round (= .

First round fought some team which we nvr heard before, something very funny happened though. My coach was late for the competition, he only rushed in 10mins after the competition started, I was still playing halfway then I heard my coach telling my opponent in hokkien"Eh, an ni bo gi liao" (这样子就没棋了）, LOL. He slaughtered his opponent in less than 5 mins!! He was late but he was the first to finish off with a win >< ... imba. I think it's partly because his opponent was a free frag, even if it's my coach, you shouldn't die in less than 5 mins.

Well, I think my opponent for the first round is the strongest in their team, we 对攻 like crazy and in the end I was faster by 1 step so I won :D . Later I found out that he was 7th in the Johor region, no wonder he really gave me such a hard time, but it was a really nice match. Felt almost as though the match I had with 沈荣春. This kind of matches are bad for the heart though, but I suppose once in a while is okay (: .

Second match was against Bishan, was really dreading Yick Loong and Mei Ding Jie until we found out that they were resting for the second round ?! LOL, felt as though we were despised looking at the players they sent at us. My second round opponent wasn't as strong as the first, he gave me a lot of free steps and in the end I had a 3 pawn advantage, to make matters worse he blinded one seed and the game was then truly over. Coach took a longer time to win this time but he still kinda raped his opponent. In the end we 8-0 them, LOL, damn shuang.

Had lunch break after that, Wang Xing Nan, one of the arbiters came over and congratulated us at our victory : "哇！华中A很强啊！赢了碧山！". Guess my coach's reply ...

"碧山很强meh?" @#$%^&* LOL!!! Dunno if he was just being tactless or he is just in a totally different level from the rest of us.

Third round was up against Yishun A, the host ... Our coach warned us that our opponents will be damn strong ... True enough, my third round opponent was godlike. In fact I already knew who he was --- 胡海宇, aka RJ coach. Was disadvantaged all the way from the beginning to the end, in the end lost a seed and lost )=. Coach was up against Qiu Guan Jie, one of the top few players in the A grp open competition this year, but our coach still won pretty quickly, lol he's simply on a killing spree.

However, Hwa Chong A still lost in the end, coach won but zixian, leslie and me all lost )= . Haizzz, even though I lost I didn't really feel too bad about it, 胡海宇 was damn charismatic and when the match ended he analysed the match with me and showed me his thought process throughout the match, omg I feel that I am still miles away from him. Dunno why but I am starting to idolise him (= . Apart from Alvin woo and my coach, he's also one chess player I look up to.

Hwa Chong A currently stands at 2 wins 1 loss. Well, my coach keeps insisting on having red because of some rather lame reason: "哎呀，我老了就让我enjoy一下吧，你们年轻人该吃一点苦" ZZZ.... A few funny incidents happened too, Han Loong won Chen Mao Ran (2nd in Grp B open competition)!! ZOMG HAHA!! To make things even more amusing, chen mao ran was already losing and he tried to be funny and moved his car diagonally to eat han loong's pawn while han loong wasn't looking, haiz thought he was an honest man ...

A bit behind time for my phy hw, but nvm la shld be manageable ... having another 4 rounds of competition on Christmas, pretty sad isnt it? Wonder how our team will fare...

Senior meets juniors session

Had a senior meets juniors session two days ago, as u can guess from the title, there was only one senior and a miserable 4 juniors for the session. Had it at Sakae sushi =), it was my first time at Sakae though, so just took all the green plates I could see, which isn't really a smart thing to do coze I was damn full by the second hour )= . The udon was really nice, nvr had anything like it.

The meal was $13.90 (ouch!), but I guess it was well worth the money, nvr ate so much for my lunch before =) . Haha, a number of funny things happened during the meal. I think we pissed the waitress off when we ordered 10 fried tofu at one go :P . Well, had a pretty nice chit chat session, Xue Ying was like sharing with us what she did for orientation 2 years ago. Now it's our turn :(, gonna have to paint a banner this hols ... after liu yang has come up with the design that is ..

Had a walk around marina square after that, bought a birthday present for my friend as well. Went bankrupt right after that ): Went to hang around in the arcade after that, played the game where u have to spot the differences between two pics, didn't help out much since I was quite slow haha.

Decided to remove the tagboard due to excessive spamming, enough with all the fake and real AAs, BB, CC, GG, catherine, gregory, hades of love, chiobu etc ):

A bit slow with the hol hw, haha, only finished chem and finishing math, havent touched phy, GP and econs. HAHA, GG still got competition on the 20th and 25th and CCA stuff to settle... Only if nov was eaten up by chem o, haizz...

Chess and Bridge Chalet

Had prac paper on the 28th, 4 titrations(acid-base) in three hours -_- ... It was really boring but at least it was do-able. Broke a pipette accidentally while trying to fit the pipette filler on it, oooopsss ... but I wasn't required to pay for it, lol ... Calculations were pretty easy as well, not as hard as that of complexometric titration.

Went to chalet right after that, lol played chess, DoTA, citadels, bridge and big two on the first day, slept only at 3am. Citadels was kinda fun, though I got niaoed pretty badly --- got assassinated 2 times in a row and during one turn I was robbed and assassinated at the same time, poor me ... It was only till the next day when Jian Ting found out that you can't assassinate and rob the same person in one turn, thanks man ...

Went to NYDC on the next day for a short while, spent $8 on e=mc2 (including GST and service tax), ouch .... haha anyway congrats to seniors who completed their A lvls!! Suppose it's ha lay lu ya for them now. Missed going to escape theme park thanks to class lunch, but lucky I didn't miss much coze Zi Xian told me the pirate's ship was down o.O.

Got to know a really nice senior as well, her name is Xueying and she's really friendly. She really knows a lot of stuff (gossips) and people, lol ... She invited my friend to K-box tmr and asked for his number, haha my friend was still considering then I just told her his number HAHA feel so evil ... Well she turned to me after that and said since I betrayed my friend I have to go as well >< ?!?! Heard it's 12 bucks ... argh spending too much these few days, already spent $38 on a bag and $35 on a card game and there's still so many things I wanna buy --- a new memory card for my phone and PSP FF7 Crisis Core, dunno if I shld go out to work )= ...

Finally can get started on hol hw and I better do since half the hols has been eaten up by olympiad. Been watching D-gray man the past few days, it's damn nice haha, currently at episode 36, trying to catch up to arts central which is at episode 52 >< .

Hope my friend and I won't be the only J1s there tmr, heard jinxiang's going, I hope he does.

Church

Went for church yesterday afternoon, well it was really different from my impression of church. It was the city harvest church at paya lebar and the moment I went in, there was this really cool studio and comfy seats o.O

Everyone was unusually friendly there, kept asking me and zixian for our names, think it was the day I set the record number of times of saying out my own name >< . The session began with a concert thingy where they sang sermons but with hip-hop style, everyone was damn high and kept jumping to the extent where the concrete floor was vibrating ...

After that there was a man who gave his "holy" speech, it was rather weird, he kept going "aye men!" and "Ha Lay Lu Ya" throughout his speech and the audience would also keep going "men!" and "yes!" throughout his speech. His speech was mainly on animals, which was referred to as the creation of god, he talked abt the cheetah, lion, elephant, rhinoceros. Think the one which left the deepest impression on me was his speech on the ant, saying on how god created small and insignificant creatures like the ant to inspire us to be hardworking, lol ...

Got to know a lot of people there, like marcus --- yolanda's nephew, haha getting to know more of mingwei's family tree. He was a pretty nice guy and was pretty concerned abt how I found the session, I told him the things I found weird, especially the speech session, and he explained everything to me, linking everything to the Bible.

Well, must say that Church isn't really my thing, so that's probably the last time I would go there. Nevertheless, it has been an eye-opener...

Been out the whole day, went to friend's house to play citadels, a really fun card game!! Played bridge as well. Went out to West Mall after that, played substandard quality pool and bought a new zinc bag for $38.60. Haha, thought I pampered myself for a bit since I have been using the same bag for 8 years. Went to watch "enchanted" with marcus, jieying and connie at jurong point after that, must say it pawns "Belwulf" upside down. Played arcade after that and had supper, jieying and connie kept making marcus and me treat them >< .

Haven't studied for prac paper yet )= , I think I am so dead ... Mock prac paper tmr, think I will just explode. Have to chiong everything tmr and tuesday then )= , well at least there's not as much things to study now as compared to the theoretical paper. May olympiad end soon, it's just 3 more days ...

Well temporary peace has settled in the house with my dad away, but really dreading how things will continue to develop ...

Chalet in 3 days time, at least there's something to look forward to, can't wait to play citadels again haha... Dunno if I can make it for Lunch@NYDC since it clashes with the chalet, but I really dun want to miss it, aahh what bad timing ...

They are at it again ....

I dunno where to begin... but my house is getting less and less peaceful these days )= . That's right, my parents quarelled again ... day in fact but I wasn't at home for most of yesterday so my sis filled me in.

The reason why they have been fighting well, is pretty lame ... My Dad has been returning home late as he keeps having dinner at his friend's house and after that he would sit around and chat with his friend. Therefore, he knocks off at around 7 but returns home at about 10. My mum just feels that there is something SOOOO wrong with that and kicks up a really big fuss about it and haizzz ...

In my opinion, my mum is the one being unreasonable here ... my dad obviously didn't do something wrong since he doesn't come home drunk or reeking of perfume or something. They had a quarrel again yesterday morning, sided with my dad ... but she still doesn't get the point.

In fact it's no point reasoning with my mum becoze she's beyond reason. For example, she objects to my sis buying clothes EVEN if my sis used her own money because there are not enough hangers (!@#^&*) and to my sis collecting postcards because she can never finish collecting everything!! (*&^^%$#!). There's something seriously wrong with her thinking and most of the time we just put up with it, but sometimes she just crosses the line. In the case when we are arguing with her, she usually uses emotional blackmail like "我死给你看啊!" when she feels that she has run out of valid points(not that she has any), the whole family is at a loss of what to do with her ):

The quarrels are getting worse, there was a significant event which strained their relationship even further. My dad's friend called yesterday afternoon and my mum happened to pick up the phone and there she goes, venting everything on my father's friend and blaming him for the family breaking apart. I think that was really too much, in fact it is she who's breaking the family apart ...

It's my dad's birthday today, haven't gotten him anything yet, have a habit of getting late birthday presents >< ... Dad went to Bintan for holiday with his friend, then haizz ... heard my mum threatening to tag along with my dad the next time my dad goes on a holiday with his friend, OH PLEASE, just how bloody UNREASONABLE can she get?!?!? Saw my dad holding his face in his hands, wonder if he was crying, he didn't even really bother to retort, think he has given up talking sense into my mum.

Did complexometric titration today, the expt itself isn't hard though I overshot )= ... but the calculations are just as the name suggests, really complex ... still dun really understand how to calculate even though weiyang tried to explain to me )= ...

They did say they would announce the results by friday ... but didn't realise that it does not mean that they will announce it on Friday.

Well, it was quite random actually, some guy asked if he can be excused from tmr's training session if he isn't selected, then someone else said results will only be out tmr. Sam Lee was like, "Hmm, may not be the case", then he went to the lab computer and checked the NUS website and wow, the results were out!!

Our school's olympiad team did pretty well, 16 out of 20 made it past the first round (=. HCI pawns!!! There are 52 people who have been invited to take part in the theoretical paper and almost one-third of them are from HCI, hahaha. Yup, I made it to the prac round, along with Jian Ting and Weiyang (= . Non-STP power!! Haha ...

Well that's that, must get back to reality, starting to feel sad again ... dunno how I am gonna 熬 till next wednesday. Come to think of it, there's less than one week to prepare for it )= ... Speaking of preparation, it's not really easy to prepare for it since it is more skill-based now. In my opinion, something which you cannot mug for is more scary than something which you can mug for. On the very day of prac itself, I may well just freak out and dunno how to do the expt or the calculations just like today ...

Watched Belwulf today, not really my type of movie, ending wasn't like an ending at all ... Haizz

Doing Thin Layer Chromatography and Column Chromatography tmr ... gonna be a long day. Well, tmr's probably the last time all 20 of us are gonna be tgt... On the bright side, 4 people are gonna treat the entire team due to special circumstances (birthdays and stuff) (= and we are gonna have to return everything tmr including the biochem booklet, clayden, wade and the molecular model kit. However, for clayden and wade, the non-STP people can choose to return them next yr, LOL ... Last but not least, there's gonna be a phototaking session (=

This month has been really tough but I am happy that it's all gonna come to an end, good luck to all Hwa Chongians taking the prac paper (= , though I must say I really need it.

Prac Training Session 1

Had prac training session today, organic and physical. Have to say I enjoy the prac training sessions more than the theory sessions (= . Prepared dibenzylacetone today, did loads of stuff which I nvr did before like suction filtration and recrystallisation. Looking forward to Thin Layer Chromatography and Column Chromatography this Friday.

Tomorrow is inorganic session for me, which ends by noon (yeah!!). Dunno if will be doing anything tmr afternoon like pool or movie, haven't had such activities since fac outing >< ...

Theoretical Paper results out by friday, haizz will be sad no matter what the results are. Passing the first round means more mugging for me while failing it would just mean the end of everything ... This is the second time I am faced with a lose-lose situation )= , sianzzzz.

Finally can get back to playing chess (=, miss the feeling of chess pieces and the board. Can't believe I sacrificed 2 chess lessons and 1 competition due to chem o. Really sad about missing the competition, missed a great chance to play pros. Whatever, recently got intel that imba people congregate at a coffeeshop near boon lay cc during Saturday night, including Xu Xin and Yee Hong. Xu Xin was once the national champion and is known as the 单蹄马王. Yee Hong is a national player and also the guy who sort of raped me during the last open competition >< ...

Mock prac paper next monday, but may not have to take it depending on the results which will be released on Friday. Well, no matter what, everything will truly be over by next wednesday (= and I can finally start on the hol hw and go out with my friends.

Singapore Chemistry Olympiad 2007

The whole year's effort was invested in today's test, hopefully can make it to second round, though I did not think I fared too well ... but nvm it's over!! Can say goodbye to Clayden, Wade and Silberberg (:

Met a familiar face there --- Joshua. Lol, ex cat high student and now currently studying in NJ. If I am not wrong, he got 9 or 10 A1s for his O lvl, wow ... Got to know him through chess haha ... well the first thing he said to me was "进去就是考天才了..." Took me quite a while to understand what he meant haha, only realised it when he told me he didn't study for it, quite unexpected of him.

Haizz, this yr's paper was imba ... 100 MCQs and 4 structured in 4 hours. Total 200 marks. The MCQs was pretty hard at first, then biochem came in and it was smooth sailing. The structured simply raped me, the only question I managed to do was question 3, the rest was ... haizzz. Was so tired near the end of the paper that I could not find the mass of the sun despite having been given the diameter of the Sun and its density!! Haha, feel so stupid ...

Going to church this Saturday, well I suppose there is a first time to everything. Wonder how it's going to be like.

Reinstalling my Warcraft (: Yeah, itching to play ... Prac training on wednesday but who cares, haha. Play tonight and then prepare tmr (: Haha, sounding less and less like myself ...

Missed the competition today after all, felt quite bad at pulling out at the last moment, well wouldn't have played well even if I did, Haizz. In the end, my coach also didn't play for the team as well, so Queenstown did not get into top 3 positions which was what they aimed for. Got sixth in the end, out of 11 teams. Quite an okay result I guess ... our team got 20 points out of 40, just passed lol ...

Seemed that it was quite an imba competition, zixian and leslie lost both their matches o.O. Haiz, wished I could have been there, rather lose two matches than study alone in the library. Sian, still left another 3 chapters for biochem and still need to prepare notes for manganese, copper and silver ... Bedtime reading of organic chem later and studying chromatographic techniques tmr morning ><. This is crazy, mugging even harder than I did for promos ...

gtg already ... Feeling really happy at the thought at getting my life back tmr =)

Had the 5 hour mock paper today, AHHH, if the real paper is gonna be as hard as this then I am afraid it will all end on the 19th ... Haizz.

Received a shock when I received the 2nd part of the paper, it was supposed to be structured questions but it was labelled as "Problem Solving" on the front page ... True enough, the questions were based more on problem solving skills rather than your knowledge, sad to say my problem solving skills are still not yet up to mark )= ...

Sort of demoralised after today but shall chiong harder for the next 3 days ... hopefully I will be able to do the questions on monday. Yeah, just a few more days to the end of mugging ....

Had CIP today, quite fun (= , looking forward to wednesday's session but before that I need to go through a full day of mugging ... Had lunch with huifang, jieying, joce and daniel, lol they were all planning to make me treat them at sakae even though I only had $25, in the end we just settled our lunch at Yoshinoya and in the end everyone ended up paying for their own food.

Went to sleep immediately after I reached home, damn tired ... Was given a rude awakening at 8pm by my parents shouting their heads off each other )= .
